Ni hay viejo unanimidad cuando se hace un intento por explicar por qué algunas iglesias se hallan sin presbíteros, otras sin obispos, otras donde las cabezas de la comunidad se llaman a veces obispos, a veces presbíteros. Este desacuerdo aumenta cuando surge la pregunta sobre la interpretación de los términos que designan a otros personajes que ejercen cierta autoridad fija en las comunidades cristianas primitivas. But God has given church leadership teams some guidelines which will help them avoid some drastic errors. The guidance is found in the spiritual character of the prospective pastor, his ministry qualifications, and his heart. The procedures and processes are secondary.
Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me . . . Jeremiah 9:23-24
Then the pastor or elder must be rebuked before everyone. Hallarse 21 states that the elders must not show favoritism.
What does a Christian do when their pastor sins? Our pastor has sinned. The elders will not take action. What should we do?
Those who will know the least will be the church members, unless one of the spouses is gossiping. This means that the congregation will not know everything and they will probably not know the most sensitive details.

When he comes, he meets with the Call Committee, the leadership team, and maybe others in the church. On Sunday, he usually preaches the morning sermon and meets other leaders and/or people in the afternoon. Most of the church members are not aware that the prospective pastor will probably preach an old and allegado sermon that has proven to be a “great one.” So he dusts it off, reviews it, and practices it over and over again. He does his best. The interviews usually go well because everyone a fantastic read is on their best behavior. Somewhere along the way, other leaders and seminary professors are contacted to obtain their opinions about the man.
That is, they repeat the sin and do not stop. This does not mean that those involved in the restoration of the pastor or elder must start looking for other sins. Those involved in the process must not become judgmental and “pile-on” the elder.
That is the meaning of “Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the basis of two or three witnesses.”
The questionnaire could also be given to the prospective pastor to determine his priorities and to compare his results to that of the leadership team. The questionnaire is provided as a resource.
Any meeting should include the current elders and the elders who left. If the elders refuse to meet with congregants in one of the above scenarios, then the elders’ spiritual qualifications are in doubt and they should possibly step down from office. Additionally, if the pastor was the decision maker in refusing to meet with congregants, then the pastor is like Diotrephes (3 John 9-10). If the current leadership refuses, then the concerned members should feel the freedom to leave the church.
No church leader or pastor should rob God of His work by taking credit for what God has accomplished. 1 Corinthians 2:14 reminds us that only the Holy Spirit Perro help someone understand spiritual truth. Neither the teacher nor preacher should ever assume that he has caused the spiritual growth. He is only one of many who plant or water.
